SPINAL CORD INJURIES AUSTRALIA PEER AND FAMILY SUPPORT

Over 350 people’s lives are affected by spinal cord injury each year, many of them at a young age like Lily. The effects of a spinal cord injury are major: they can impair many critical functions that are easily taken for granted. 

The Peer and Family Support program is largely self-funded and is at risk of no longer being able to provide the support needed to help someone overcome possibly the biggest hurdle anyone would have to face in their life  ... the recovery journey after a spinal cord injury.   

Your generosity will help SCIA provide critical support to people like Lily, who’s life has been tragically impacted by spinal cord injury. 

Let’s help them regain their independence, rebuild their dreams and live their best life. Joining Lily in her March Marathon Madness will help SCIA to; 

• Continue providing those affected by spinal cord injury with hope, to build their knowledge and confidence and get back out in the world again
• Enable SCIA to employ additional support coordinators
• Enable SCIA to support even more people and their families affected by spinal cord injury 
• Allow SCIA to provide this service in even more locations across  Australia.

When Lily had her accident in 2016, we didn't have the opportunity to access a service such as the SCIA Peer and Family Support Service.  As a result we had to find the answers out for ourselves, often purely through chance - this is a challenge when you don't have a clue about what the questions are, let alone the answers.
