Thanks to your awesome contributions, after taking out the outlay costs for the Headskinz and postage, we can report that we raised a total of $12,797 in the 2022 Lily's Legs Virtual Marathon to help the Spinal Cord Injuries Australia Peer and Family Support Service (SCIA). This is a combination of donations and registration fees for the virtual marathon.
Spinal Cord Injuries Australia Peer and Family Support Service is largely self-funded, provides advice and guidance from people with lived experience of spinal cord injuries to individuals like Lily and our family after a spinal cord injury. Such a service did not exist for us when Lily had her accident, and all the money we raised through the virtual marathon will go towards ensuring others don't miss out as well.
In addition to the funds for SCIA, and separate to the virtual marathon and donations, 57 people ordered beanies from Lily, the profits of which went towards bridging her out of pocket expenses from the purchase of her FES machine in 2020. Through your generosity she raised $1,175 towards the total $10,000 out of pocket expenses – hopefully there will be a few warm heads for the upcoming winter.
A quick note of thanks to Daniel Hodgson for turning a photo of Lily and Joff out for a run into the awesome Lily’s Legs logo, and to John at Headskinz for his help in designing and organising the awesome headwear – very much appreciated guys.
We would like to thank everyone who participated for your support to Lily and her cause, and for helping to make an awesome community to help get us moving in March.
