Lily's Legs primary goal in 2022 is to raise money to help the Spinal Cord Injuries Australia Peer and Family Support Service. This service, which is largely self-funded, provides advice and guidance from people with lived experience of spinal cord injuries to individuals like Lily and our family after a spinal cord injury. Such a service did not exist for us when Lily had her accident, and all the money we can raise through the virtual marathon will go towards ensuring others don't miss out as well.

2020 was the first year of Lily’s Legs Virtual March Marathon where we were hoping to raise enough money to get Lily to London to attend a neuroplasticity conference. With the expectation of only a handful of people registering, we were overwhelmed with the support provided by the community and raised over $27,000. Unfortunately COVID-19 impacted on the conference as well as international travel in 2020 and 2021, and given the ongoing risks for Lily we explored alternative options to put the fundraising to good use.

This year Lily's Legs primary goal is to raise money to help the Spinal Cord Injuries Australia Peer and Family Support Service by completing the equivalent of a 42.2km marathon on her FES machine during the month of March.
SCIA’s Peer and Family Support Service is largely self-funded and provides advice and guidance from people with lived experience of spinal cord injuries to individuals like Lily and our family, after a spinal cord injury event. Such a service did not exist for us when Lily had her accident, and all the money we can raise through the virtual marathon will go towards ensuring others don't have to bumble their way through what is already an incredibly difficult situation in the same way we did.
Lily is also selling Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) supporter Lil's Lids beanies to help raise money to reimburse herself for the gap between the funds raised in 2020 and the cost of the FES machine she recently purchased. These beanies are hand made by Lily and will be a lime green in colour, which is the colour of the SCI Support Ribbon.
The ways you can help are:
1. March Virtual Marathon: Wheel, push, arm crank, run, walk, crawl, swim, row or bike (or any other activity you can think of) 42.2km during the month of March. It costs $50 to enter, you will receive a Lily’s Legs Headskinz, and all profits go to Spinal Cord Injuries Australia’s Peer and Family Support service.
2. Buy a Lil's Lids SCI Support beanie for $30 (includes postage) to help Lily cover the costs of the FES machine the money raised from our 2020 virtual marathon helped to purchase.
3. Make a direct donation direct to Spinal Cord Injuries Australia.
Lily and her family would like you to join us in completing a virtual marathon during the month of March.
You have between the 1st and the 31st of March to achieve or exceed 42.2km (or equivalent for your chosen activity) - that's less than 1.5km a day.
You can do it in bite sized chunks, or you can do it all at once, the choice is yours.
See below for further details.
Registration is simple, just click on the Registration button below and fill in your details.
Entry is $50 per person. All entrants will receive a Lily's Legs Headskinz.
During the registration process you will have the option to buy a Lil's Lid SCI beanie for $30 (money goes directly to Lily to cover the additional costs of the FES machine purchased using the money raised in the 2020 Lily's Legs March Virtual Marathon).
If you only wish to purchase a Lil's Lid SCI beanie and not participate in the virtual marathon you can do that by clicking on the BUY A BEANIE link below.
If you would like to make a donation directly to Spinal Cord Injuries Australia and don't plan to register for the virtual marathon, you can do that by clicking on the DONATE link below.
A huge thanks to Daniel Hodgson for the artwork and to John from Headskinz for the support in designing and producing the Lily's Legs Headskinz.
